Prominent family calls for release of opposition figure in Sudan

In Sudan, the family of a detained opposition politician held a vigil Sunday in Khartoum to press for her release.

Mariam AlMahdi was arrested two weeks ago at Khartoum airport as she stepped off a plane from Paris.

AlMahdi, a leader of the Umma Party, had traveled to France to meet with the Sudan Revolutionary Front, an alliance of rebel groups from Darfur, South Kordofan and Blue Nile.
