Arrest of Vice President of The National Umma Party Dr Mariam Almahdi by Security Forces

The National Security Forces (NISS) have arrested Dr Mariam Almahdi Vice President of the National Umma Party, tonight when her flight landed in Khartoum Airport and had taken her to an unknown location. Until now her whereabouts is unknown.

Dr Mariam Almahdi had returned from Paris where the National Umma Party have signed the Paris Declaration in the 8th August 2014 with the Sudanese Revolutionary Forces calling to unify the political opposition forces over peace and democratic reforms. In due fact to end war and to engage in a genuine national dialogue aiming to restore democracy in Sudan.

We call for the immediate release of Dr Mariam Almahdi and hold the Sudanese Government accountable if any harm should come to her.
